Specialists With Compassion
The DBT Lounge
01

Dialectical means “the existence of opposites.” In DBT, people learn two opposite but complementary strategies: acceptance (their experiences and behaviours are valid) and change (making positive adjustments to manage emotions).
Developed in the 1980s by Dr. Marsha Linehan for people with suicidal urges and Borderline Personality Disorder, DBT is now widely used to treat emotional dysregulation. Some people experience intense emotions and take longer to return to baseline, leading to impulsivity, crises, or self-destructive behaviour. DBT teaches coping skills to manage emotions, reduce harmful patterns, and build healthier relationships.

Our Packages
To begin therapy you will require an initial consultation to assess your suitability for the DBT programmes.
In collaboration with your assessing therapist you will choose the most appropriate DBT package for your needs.
Step 01
Assessment
An initial one-to-one session where a senior therapist will take an account of your reasons for coming, some information about your lifestyle and life experiences and assess your suitability for treatment.
Step 02
Choose your package
With support from your assessing therapist you will chose the DBT package that is right for you considering your clinical needs and budget.
(See below for package details)
Step 03
Start Package
You will then be assigned a primary therapist who will be your main point of contact and the therapist who delivers most of your treatment. You will work together for the duration of your therapy in a collaborative manner. Silver and Gold packages are always tailored to your specific needs.

The 6 Modules of the DBT Skills Programme
The DBT Skills Group operates as a rolling programme of six modules. This allows for new members to join at the beginning of each module so as to not start part way through a topic. This also allows the group to remain closed during the course of each module fostering a sense of safety and containment.
Each module consists of six sessions and are based on:
✔️ Distress Tolerance Parts A & B
✔️ Emotional Regulation Parts A & B
✔️ Interpersonal Effectiveness Parts A & B
Mindfulness skills are taught as the foundation to all other skills.
